Anthropic just made a move that changes the AI model landscape again. Today, June 9, 2026, Anthropic announced two new models — Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5 — introducing an entirely new capability tier above the existing Opus class.

Claude Fable 5 Launched Today

Claude Fable 5, described by Anthropic as its most capable widely released model with state-of-the-art results on nearly all tested benchmarks, runs with always-on adaptive thinking, a 1-million-token context window, and 128K output tokens.

It includes safety classifiers that automatically fall back to Claude Opus 4.8 for flagged requests in domains such as cybersecurity and biology.

Claude Fable 5 became generally available on the Claude API, Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry the same day under the model identifier claude-fable-5.

The 1-million-token context window is the headline technical number. For SaaS products built on top of Claude, that window means the model can hold an entire large codebase, a full company knowledge base, or months of customer conversation history in a single context. That is a qualitatively different kind of AI product than anything the previous Opus models could support.

Reddit’s r/Claude AI at https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/ is already running live tests comparing Fable 5 to GPT-4o and Gemini 3.5 Pro. Early results are showing Fable 5 leading on complex multi-step reasoning tasks while maintaining the conversational quality Anthropic’s models are known for.

What Claude Mythos 5 Is and Why It Is Not Public

Claude Mythos 5 was announced alongside Fable 5 and shares its capabilities without the safety classifiers. It is not generally available and remains restricted to a small number of trusted organizations through Project Glass wing.

Anthropic also announced today that Claude support through Apple’s Foundation Models framework will be available on iOS 27, iPad OS 27, macOS 27, vision OS 27, and watch OS 27, letting Apple developers use typed Swift outputs to call Claude for complex workflows, code generation, web search, and streaming responses in Swift UI.

X at https://x.com/search?q=Claude+Fable+5+Anthropic+2026 has developers sharing their first production tests. The most discussed capability is the 128K output token limit — which means Claude can now produce extremely long, structured documents in a single response without truncation.

Quora at https://www.quora.com/What-is-Claude-Fable-5-and-how-does-it-compare-to-GPT-4 has answers from developers who have already run the model through production benchmarks.
